The MAPS Committee has an executive team including Concordia graduate and undergraduate students to orchestrate each year’s upcoming events. Candidates are invited to apply in August of each year to fill available positions. Recruitment is overseen by the Chair and Senior Consultant. Priority may be given to current executives. See executive positions descriptions below.
Chair: oversees all proceedings; schedule, set agenda and lead executive meetings about once a month/as needed, approve funding applications and budget proposals, approve promotional materials, seek and communicate with collaborators, deal with conflicts as they arise. Position open to graduate students only.
Senior Consultant: advises the coordinator and committee as needed. Position open to a graduate student, faculty member or recent alumni with expertise in student organizations, event planning, leadership and/or mentorship at Concordia.
Mentorship Coordinators: organize the recruitment, matching and evaluation of the mentorship program throughout the year. They will also organize mentorship-specific events in collaboration with the Events Coordinator, such as the Mentor-Mentee Meet and Greet and Q&As. Preference given to graduate students.
Event Coordinators: organize MAPS workshops and special events (i.e., room bookings, guest speakers, registration). Tasks may include: booking a room/creating a Zoom meeting, creating a registration page, communicating with the team for event promotion (e.g., posters, shares, FB events), emailing event attendees for reminders and feedback, organizing catering as needed, and setting up/cleaning up for events.
Social Media and Website Officers: promote all events, the mentorship program and our partners’ events (i.e., CUPA events, Concordia resources) and update social media pages and the MAPS website. They should work to keep all social accounts and website up-to-date and consistent (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and website).
Senior Officer(s): graduate students who present at workshops and help with other tasks as needed. They can also suggest new topics to present at workshops (i.e., Python coding).
Financial Officer: helps create the yearly budget, draft extra funding applications (i.e., Faculty of Arts and Science, Concordia Council for Student Life) and seek external sponsorships. The financial officer also prepares expense reports and submits those to the departmental administrator. They also manage the Excel budget worksheet and update it as expenses are made. Preference given to graduate students.
Data Officer: collects and analyzes feedback about the MAPS Committee. They create feedback surveys online for each event and present the results in a short presentation at executive meetings.
General Officers: helps out with various tasks as needed. For example, general officers may make promotional posters for our events, attend workshops to help with set-up/clean-up, or take pictures during workshops. Preference given to undergraduate students.
